Advanced Genomics is a San-Antonio-based commercial lab specializing in pharmacogenetic testing. The lab was founded in 2014, and within its first year the lab had over 10,000 Pharmacogenetic patients served. Advanced Genomics needed a Lab Information System solution that could help them continue to grow in scale with their business.

While the testing menu has expanded, most recently with the additions of cystic fibrosis screening and a custom panel for a functional medicine group, the foundation of the company remains the same. It is to be a leading PGx lab that offers personalized, precise care and information to enable physicians to make the most advanced decisions for them with the most technological and relevant data available. Advanced Genomics notes that based on genotype and current prescriptions, approximately 10% of patients so far have received a “red flag” advising the physician to consider changing medications. Because of such utility, interest in pharmacogenetic data has risen quickly.

The lab needed a LIMS (Lab Information Management System) and reporting solution customized to fit its own internal processes and manage assorted and unique partner relationships. Additionally, this solution had to ensure legal compliance while generating meaningful customized reports for physicians and patients. It’s important to note, that a PGX test only offers guidance/clarification on how medications are metabolized by the patient. It is just one of many tools a physician’s uses to treat his/her patients. After thorough evaluation, the lab selected Pathagility as its LIMS and reporting partner in March, 2016. In general terms, Pathagility streamlines operations, allowing the company to better manage their lab partnerships, growing test offerings, federal testing, and large reaching clinical trials.

“We couldn’t be happier to partner with labs like Advanced Genomics who are growing quickly in the marketplace, but above all, care immensely about the physicians and end patients they serve,” commented Mark McCuin, Founder and President of Pathagility. “Advanced Genomics is using Pathagility in profound ways by creating various processes unique to each of their panels and tests, along with the tests run by their lab partners. This helps to save costs, reduce manual labor, and integrate technologies across the lab. The partnership that Pathagility and Advanced Genomics have created is special, and we’re excited to continue scaling and helping each other grow.”

“Pathagility is instrumental to our entire process,” commented Mike Moran, Chief Operating Officer at Advanced Genomics. “From keeping track of samples, sending the test and panel data to Pathagility’s solution, to interpretation and reporting data in meaningful ways for physicians and patients, Pathagility acts as the epicenter and is irreplaceable to our team. They are a very important cog to our wheel. On top of that, the Pathagility team embodies our own values, and puts the patient’s care first in every scenario. The team is incredible to work with, and has helped make our internal processes customized and seamless.”

Pathagility has experienced tremendous growth across its product and company over the past several years. Pathagility’s LIMS and reporting software is used by labs across the country. Pathagility is continuing to grow both its team and its solution. For more information on the company or to request a demonstration of its technology, visit: http://www.Pathagility.com.
