Request for Information: Laboratory Information Management System for the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences

June 9 @ 5:00 pm EDT

Solicitation #: HHS-NIEHS-RFI-20-LIMS

“The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS or Institute) is one of 27 Institutes and Centers (ICs) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The mission of the NIEHS is to reduce the burden of human illness and disability by understanding how the environment influences the development and progression of human disease.”

In‐house, or intramural research, is performed by scientists employed by the federal government that have laboratories at NIEHS. Within the Division of Intramural Research (DIR), a group of shared and core facilities provide services, equipment, and expertise to support the intramural research activities at the Institute. The shared labs perform a variety of services for the intramural research department’s principal investigators at their request. Many function in a manner similar to how an analytical lab would function in an industry setting. The NIEHS Office of Scientific Computing (OSC) is tasked with commissioning Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for some of these cores. To this effect, NIEHS is seeking information from industry concerning a LIMS software solution to streamline these services, provide traceability and transparency, enhance the communication or results and other data, and monitor performance and costs.”
