Solicitation #: FDA-RFI-18-1200049
"The purpose of this request for information is to obtain technical and/or business information and input from the marketplace for a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) Laboratory Inventory System (LIS) software."
"As part of a centrally-provisioned LQMS software infrastructure, OLSS is looking for a LIS to track chemicals, biological samples, radiological materials, capital equipment, select agents and toxins, and controlled substances. Use of an Agency-wide laboratory inventory tool supports regulatory compliance for the safe storage and handling of these materials, more efficient ordering and use of materials, and allows safety officials to identify the hazards presented by select materials (e.g., peroxide-forming compounds, radioactive materials). The FDA has 22 laboratory sites with approximately 2700 laboratory-related employees spread across the United States and her territories. Some FDA sites use Excel, some use custom designed Access databases, and others use COTS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) products. To maintain an accurate laboratory inventory, users are expected to interact with the system almost daily."
