Request for Proposal: Laboratory Information Management System for Nevada Department of Agriculture

May 3 @ 2:00 pm

Solicitation #: 55AGR-S1861

“The Nevada Department of Agriculture’s (NDA) mission is to preserve, protect and promote Nevada Agriculture. NDA seeks to increase its ability to become a customer focused organization and create a cohesive infrastructure by creating effective, efficient business processes. This initiative is intended to combine business process reengineering and technology as it relates to the design, development and implementation of a replacement solution that better meets the strategic goals of the agency and Nevadans. The NDA Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Project will be undertaken by the NDA with the goal to streamline workflow and gain economy in numbers by combining disparate manual and automated systems into a cohesive and standardized LIMS for NDA’s current and future laboratories information management needs.

The purpose of this project is to streamline laboratory sample acceptance and tracking, data collection, testing and calculations, and result reporting across the NDA. The NDA currently operates 8 subject matter specific laboratories across 5 buildings in 3 separate cities. The type of samples that are analyzed range from petroleum, plant materials and soil, concentrated pesticides, and animal specimens. In order to create efficient processes, meet quality standards and accreditation requirements, and provide for better customer service to Nevadans, a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is a necessary component for all laboratories.

The NDA labs within the scope of this project are Animal Disease (Microbiology and diagnostics) Lab, Food Safety & Dairy Lab, Chemistry & Fertilizer Lab, Plant Pathology & Nematology Lab, Seed Lab, Entomology Lab, Petroleum Lab, and Metrology Lab.”
