“The purpose of this Statement of Work (SOW) is to acquire commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software products in support of the Division of Veterinary Resources (DVR) to replace existing web-based applications for laboratory animal resource management and other veterinary research services.
The Division of Veterinary Resources (DVR) is the central National Institutes of Health (NIH) laboratory animal research support program contributing to the advancement of NIH biomedical research by providing animal care and a full range of essential and specialized veterinary services. In addition, DVR professional staff is available for consultation on all aspects of laboratory animal medicine and participate in collaborative research … The Information Technology Branch (ITB) of the Office of Research Services (ORS) provides information technology (IT) support for the development or acquisition of tools and technologies to support the NIH mission. ITB previously developed four legacy applications that support operational functions within DVR for rodent import, animal transportation, technical services, and animal pathology diagnostic laboratory testing (Web Health). These applications provide web-based tools for NIH intramural research staff to request DVR support services and for DVR to approve/schedule the activity and report any results. These current technologies are approaching end of life and will need significant enhancement or replacement. DVR and ITB intend to procure COTS products that can replace the four end of life, legacy applications.”
