Webinar: Balancing Data Access with Privacy and Security – HHS’ Proposed Information Blocking Rules

October 3, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm CDT

“In spring 2019, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC) at HHS proposed wide-ranging policies detailing a new legal prohibition on “information blocking,” which aim to encourage greater information sharing and interoperability across healthcare stakeholders, including providers, developers of health IT, health information networks and exchanges. While the proposed rule primarily focuses on enabling data sharing, there are two major exceptions for privacy and security—and healthcare organizations will need to understand how to balance these competing interests.

In this webinar, Jodi Daniel, former policymaker at ONC and partner at Crowell & Moring, and Brandon Ge, associate at Crowell & Moring, will explain the future direction and impact of these proposed policies, how these policies interact with existing regulations such as HIPAA, and share practical tips on how organizations can get prepared for implementation and compliance.”
