Webinar: Quality Assurance and Quality Control Monitoring in Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry Service

"In the past decade, the development of liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LC-MS) technology has transformed the paradigm of medical laboratory, and it has become one of the essential analysis platforms for specialized testing, ranging from trace level hormone analysis to clinical laboratory-developed metabolomics and proteomics. The flexibility of LC-MS platform allowed laboratories to provide on-demand laboratory developed tests (LDTs) to meet various clinical needs, some of which may not be immediately available from commercial in vitro diagnostic portfolio. However, the use of LDTs also burdened the laboratories with assay validation, maintenance and regulatory compliance. The complexity and potential pit-fall of LC-MS technology also presented significant and unique challenges to laboratory quality and risk management. Implementation of effective internal quality control and quality assurance procedure was not only essential for delivering accurate and precise results to the patients, but also a useful safeguard mechanism against laboratory errors and performance failure. In this presentation, several real-life examples will be used to illustrate how LC-MS parameters were utilized and interpreted to minimize laboratory errors."

Webinar: Heavy Metals Testing in Air: How Does That Happen?

"Heavy metals have been identified as causing a wide range of environmental and human health effects including toxicity, neurotoxicity, and genotoxicity that may lead to cancer. There are many exposure pathways, including digestion, dermal absorption, and inhalation. Heavy metals bio-accumulate, and effects may manifest over time, so identifying and minimizing lifetime exposure is key to reducing health impacts. One exposure pathway is inhalation, so this webinar focuses on heavy metals in ambient air and emissions sources.

Sources for inhalation of heavy metals are generally associated with particulate matter from industrial emissions—either manufacturing, processing, or point-of-use of products containing heavy metals. They are found during remediation and/or re-development of sites where heavy metals have been used, stored, or disposed. Exposure may come from both dust and aerosols created during on-site cleanup activities."

Webinar: Supporting the Plant-Based Boom: Applying intuitive analytical methods to enhance plant-based dairy product development

"In recent years, plant-based dairy alternatives have stormed supermarket shelves around the world, offering a new generation of consumers alternatives to traditional milk, cheese and butter products.

To ensure these products are meeting the stringent safety and quality standards that customers’ demand, regular testing across the supply chain is vital. In a similar way to how conventional milk testing is done, FT-IR can be leveraged as a powerful tool to make analytical measurements for plant milk.

Nevertheless, novel plant milk products pose a series of challenges as an analytical sample. These include differences in the suspension of particles in an emulsion and varying sugar and amino acid profiles. This means that how we measure or define what these parameters are can change from material to material.

In this webinar, data and results on combined plant milk protein, solid, and sugars will be presented alongside the spectra of the material and the calibration regions chosen. Additionally, we will compare some plant-specific calibrations to the generic calibration for traditional milk."

Clinical development organizations across life sciences have common challenges associated with aging and siloed technologies, changing trial paradigms, and ability to easily access and leverage clinical data assets. As demand for increased efficiency and access to data increase, the historic approach to building solutions within individual clinical development functions continues to create significant issues. This is further compounded by the increase in the number of vendors and partners involved in the process, the variety and volume of clinical data used in analyses, and limited capabilities to leverage emerging technologies. These factors hinder the ability to rapidly analyze clinical and real world data to drive insights and outcomes and bring medicines to patients faster.

Aligning sponsors and stakeholders on a strategy and vision for the future is critical to the transformation and provides strategic direction to the development of the strategy as well as downstream IT portfolio decision making. Ideally, the strategy should enable a data-centric platform-based strategy, ensure core and emerging capabilities are supported through modern technologies and architectures, and deliver a flexible and agile roadmap that drives value based on business priorities.

In this webinar we will discuss:

  • Common technology challenges across clinical development
  • What is a data centric platform-based approach?
  • Capturing business and technical capabilities leading to stakeholder alignment on an actionable clinical technical strategy
