The surprising thing is most or all of the business executives in the room have a surprisingly fuzzy idea of what the jargon they sling around actually means or how it's determined and used (bottom-line, ROI, ROA, IRR, NPV, free cash flow, risk management, cost controls, strategy, disruption, etc.) so the key is just knowing what the current buzzwords are (scanning Harvard Business Review articles, written mostly by consultants renaming old concepts to get new advisory work, is the most efficient way.) If you are dealing with the low-level people who actually understand operational costs and risks, translation's unnecessary and progress is rapid.
