Genohm releases new SLims Workflow for NIPT

Durham, NC, (USA), 05.22.2017: Download the pre-configured SLims Noninvasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT) Workflow and start processing samples in your lab in less than a day.

Genohm, the Swiss based Makers of SLims, an integrated Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) + Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) digital platform, has  developed a pre-configured SLims Workflow to support the Illumina based NIPT assay.

Nicholas Beckloff, Director of Genohm US Operations, commented on the NIPT test: ”Noninvasive screening options for newborns have evolved dramatically over the past decade making them easier and safer for both mom and baby. One of the newest tests, Noninvasive Prenatal Testing (NIPT), has been designed to test the DNA of the fetus in the mother’s womb by drawing as little as one tube of blood from the mother. The test analyzes cell free fetal and maternal DNA that circulates in the mother’s blood providing information on fetal chromosomal status as early as 11 weeks gestation. NIPT has a huge advantage over other prenatal tests that may require multiple visits, blood drawings, or that may carry a risk associated to the safety and well-being of the fetus.”

Further to the release of SLims NIPT Workflow, he added: “Today, our customers using Illumina can download the pre-configured SLims NIPT Workflow and be processing samples in their lab in less than a day. As part of this Workflow, SLims is designed for out of the box (OOTB) integration with several informatic algorithms to perform analysis and reporting for the samples processed.”
