from a D-shaped preform to confirm the hypothesis about chaoticity of D-shaped fibers.
Such fibers have application for double-clad fiber lasers.
The red numbers indicate size in micrometers.

The Initial preform had sharp edges; they become smooth due to the surface tension at the hot drawing.
