The first line in the "Critical response" section states that the movie recieved mixed reviews in Japan, citing as it's source the American Crunchyroll page, which characterised the reception as such, according to FILMAGA who ranked it as 4th best Japanese film currently playing in theatres. The problem is that FILMAGA ranks movies according to the the user review aggregator Filmranks (disregarding the number of votes), that has no input from professional reviewers. Furthermore, the popular vote on other sites, and even FILMAGA itself indicates a mild positive reception from the public. And finally, when you actually look at the Japanese reviews, they are more in line with their western counterparts, often outright praising the movie. BogCve22 (talk) 14:40, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have a friend who lives in Japan who told me that critics' reviews were mixed in the country, similar to how reviews for the film are outside of Japan, and he owns documents on reviews to prove it so no questions asked, the film is currently a big hit but most Japanese critics think Shin Godzilla is better. The source never specifies that FILMAGA were the ones that gave mixed reviews. They just say that FILMAGA has these/that numbers. Crunchyroll is a pretty reliable source when it comes to Japanese content. So I don't see any reason to remove this info. Armegon (talk) 01:14, 28 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I just updated the Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time article to include a literal translation into "New Evangelion Theatrical Edition", following "Shin Evangerion Gekijōban", following a talk page suggestion. Originally, it was "Shin Evangelical Theatrical Edition". I'd like to ask if people think this should be redone also for Shin Godzilla, this page, and Shin Kamen Rider, considering Shin Japan Heroes Universe is linking them all commercially. I understand this might be debatable because Anno in fact chose a very different English title for Shin Evangelion, but that is not the point of the literal translation. I like to point out that Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time is the only film that uses シン・for "Shin"/new, etc. The other Rebuild of Eva films use 新, pronounced also as "shin" and literally translates into English as "new". Armegon (talk) 01:51, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
