The University of Exeter Business School is one of the leading business schools in Europe, and is ranked as being among the best business schools in the world. Founded by the University of Exeter in 2008, it is located on the university's Streatham Campus within the city of Exeter. The School offers undergraduate BSc and postgraduate degrees in business, economics, marketing, finance, accounting and management programmes. The school offers the Exeter MBA which focuses on sustainability, a dedicated Master in Management programme and specialised MSc degrees, as well as MRes and PhD research programmes.[1] The school is in the elite 1% of business schools worldwide that possess the distinguished Triple Crown Accreditation from AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS.

History

The university offered its first MBA in 1988 with the formation of the Centre for Management Studies. In 1998 the University of Exeter Business School was launched with the Departments of Management, Economics, Accounting and Finance merged. At the time of its formation, the Business School employed 38 full-time academics, by 2013 this number had risen to over 200.[2]

College status

The University of Exeter Business School has an international student body made up of 93 different nationalities, faculty from 29 countries, 50 partner institutions in 24 countries worldwide and 20,195 alumni, almost half of whom are based internationally across 155 countries. Reputation

The University of Exeter Business School is a UK-based international Business School which is part of a Russell Group university ranked within the Global Top 100 according to The Times Higher Education World Rankings 2015.[3] It held 7th-place position during both 2015 and 2016 respectively according to The Times and The Sunday Times University Guide 2016.[4]

2016 The Financial Times ranks the Business School as a Top 100 European Business School for the first time.
2017 The One Planet MBA is ranked as a Tier 1 course in CEO Magazine's Global MBA Rankings for the first time.
2017 The Business School's disciplines of accounting and finance, management and economics are ranked in The Complete University Guide for the first time, at 5th, 6th and 11th respectively.
2017 The One Planet MBA becomes The Exeter MBA, and is ranked number 1 in the Corporate Knights' Better World MBA Rankings.
2017 The Business School is one of the first UK universities to join the prestigious QTEM network of global institutions and organisations offering students the opportunity to take part in the quantitatively focused QTEM Programme.
2017 The Business School is named the number 1 Business School in the UK for graduate outcomes.
2018 The Exeter Centre for circular economy is launched by Dame Ellen MacArthur, and the university is recognised by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation as a Global Pioneer for Circular Economy.
2018 The Business School launches two new Degree Apprenticeships, and is the first member of the Russell Group to launch both level 6 and level 7 qualifications in leadership and management.
2018 The Business School's WIE degree option is nominated for a QS Reimagine Education Award.
2019 The Exeter Centre for Entrepreneurship is launched by successful businesswoman and Dragon's Den star Deborah Meaden.
2019 The University of Exeter and Dragon Capital create the “Dragon Capital Chair in Biodiversity Economics”, committing £1.6 million to fund research that encourages market behaviours that foster the preservation of the natural environment.
2019 The Business School is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for the first time.
2019 The Business School is triple-accredited, and joins an elite group of less than one hundred business schools globally to achieve the coveted “triple crown” accreditation status.
2019 The Economist ranks the Business School's MBA as a top 100 MBA programme and 5th in the world for student quality.
2020 Celebrities join Business School professor Gail Whiteman in a virtual call to address Arctic change during ‘digital Davos’, organised by Arctic Basecamp, the climate action campaign group founded by Professor Gail Whiteman.
2020 The Exeter MBA is ranked 12th globally and 4th in Europe in Corporate Knights’ Better World MBA rankings 2021.
2021 The University of Exeter Business School launches Exeter Expertise, a new Thought Leadership platform where academic research and insights are distilled to help readers tackle the world's greatest challenges.
2021 The University of Exeter Business School is re-accredited for a further five years by leading quality assessment body EQUIS.

Research

The University of Exeter Business School's research is recognised as world-leading and internationally excellent (REF, 2014), and recent years have seen the School benefit from investment into attracting and recruiting leading international researchers, research teams and distinguished professors. With the launch of research centres in the circular economy, environmental economics, entrepreneurship, and the digital economy the Business School now has 11 research centres that provide a focus for research collaboration within the School, across the University of Exeter and externally:

The newly launched Research Methods Centre provides a forum for training PhD students, early career researchers and experienced academics alike to help foster a community of learning and enable faculty to publish in leading academic journals, generate income and deliver impactful research. In recent years the School's research has impacted on many global and national institutions including the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Commission as well as HMRC, DEFRA and the Met Office.
