I'm not sure why you would upload another non-free file of Covert about an hour after another different non-free file of him that you also uploaded was deleted for not complying with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy. Is there something about this policy that you don't understand? If there is, then that's OK, but you should ask for help at WP:MCQ. While I'm sure you meant well replace a freely licensed or public domain image like File:Marian Mercer 1972 (cropped).JPG with a non-free image like File:Marian Mercer.jpg as you did here isn't considered a valid non-free use per WP:NFCC#1 (WP:FREER). While it's true that non-free images of deceased individuals can be allowed per item 10 of WP:NFCI, each use still needs to satisfy all ten non-free content use criteria for it to be considered valid. Being of a better quality, being in color, or showing a person at a different point in their career is pretty much never been considered a strong enough reason for justifying a non-free image over an existing free image. Wikipedia's non-free content use policy can be tricky to navigate and it's easy to make mistakes. ​@Eric Carpenter: I'm not sure why you would re-upload pretty much the same file that was deleted above by a Wikipedia administrator named Explicit on April 10, 2023. If there was some reason why you felt that deletion was a mistake, then it would've been better to just discuss it with the deleting administrator than simply re-uploading the file again. If you notice a file that you upload is no longer being used, there's probably a reason why and you'll often can find that reason somewhere on your user talk page or in the relevant article's page history. If you're not sure why a file was deleted or otherwise want clarification even then, you can always ask for assistance at WP:MCQ or from the administrator who deleted the file. Pretty much the worse thing you can do, particularly in the case of a non-free file, is to just re-upload the file as if nothing happened before. Do that too many times and there's a chance an administrator might block your account. It might seem like overkill perhaps, but the file is also a problem because it's attributed to Getty Images. Non-free images of still living persons are pretty much never going to be allowed per WP:FREER since it's almost always going to be considered reasonable to expect that a free equivalent image can either be found or created to essentially serve the same encyclopedic purpose as any non-free one. This doesn't me there has to be free version of the exact non-free image that you want to use, but only another image of the same person that could reasonably serve the same purpose of primary identification purposes. A free equivalent image may be of lesser quality and may show the person at a different point in their life, but it is likely still to be preferred over any non-free one for Wikipedia's purposes. Of course, you might disagree with this assessment, but the burden would then fall upon you to establish a consensus to the contrary that agrees that a non-free image isn't replaceable. Moreover, this is not limited to primary identification purposes in the main infobox or otherwise at the top of BLP articles, but it also applies to other types of uses and other types of articles. For sure, the application of Wikipedia's non-free content use policy is tricky and it's easy to make mistakes. However, as you can see for all to the similar image-related notification which have already been posted above on your user talk page, this is not the first time such a thing has been brought to your attention. You have already received a "final warning" in February about this; so, maybe it would be wise for you to focus working on text content for awhile and avoid anything to do with non-free images until you get a better feel for relevant policy. It's OK to make mistakes, but repeating the same mistakes over and over again makes it seem as if you (1) don't understand what you're doing wrong, (2) don't care what you're doing wrong or (3) a little of both (1) and (2). Assuming that you weren't able to find any possibly free equivalent photos of Cameron before you uploaded this one, I would suggest that you let this one be deleted as orphaned non-free use given the discussion at User talk:Rodaregal about the file. It didn't originate with Ms. (magazine), but the magazine got it from the Estate of Robert Giard. While it's probably still OK to use for Wikipedia's purposes, it might be better for you to find a less encumbered photo of Cameron to upload and use as non-free. You need to make sure that such a photo, however, is not a derivative of the Giard photo in any way.
