• I'm not a huge Royals or royalty person, but Queen Elizabeth II's Jubilees are typically fairly notable since even someone like myself, who doesn't go out of their way to consume media about them has heard of it. In the future, we'll need an RFC covering all the 'former' monarchy articles that had Elizabeth II as their only monarch. Basically a re-do of the August 2021 RFC, only with Barbados added. The RM at Monarchy of Barbados has been closed as no move, which goes opposite of the August 2021 RM. It's likely that the RM at Queen of Nigeria will be closed as no move, which goes along with the August 2021 RM. These two articles-in-question are basically the same articles - monarchies that had (will have) only 'one' monarch. So, why are we getting different results? I think it should be split into Tui Viti and Monarchy of Fiji (1970–1987). The content about Cakobau's reign is not so great, so I don't think it deserves a stand-alone monarchy article. It could be mentioned at Tui Viti. The Elizabethan monarchy could be covered at Monarchy of Fiji (1970–1987). Content has to be written in your own words and not include any wording from the source material. One thing I find that works for me is to read over the source material and then pretend I am verbally describing the topic to a friend in my own words. Stuff should also be presented in a different order where possible. Summarize rather than paraphrase. This will typically result in your version being much shorter than the source document. There's some reading material on this topic at Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing and/or have a look at the material at Paraphrase: Write It in Your Own Words. Check out the links in the menu on the left for some exercises to try. Or study this module aimed at WikiEd students.

Please don't add copyright content to Wikipedia, not even temporarily for editing. Please do your amendments before you save the page, or use an external editor such as Microsoft Word or Google Docs and work on it there until you are sure it's completely original. Don't know if an RFC is required, concerning categories & sub-categories. But, I'm planning on one, as many of the commonwealth realm governors-general have 'head of state of their countries' in such categories & sub-categories. One thing is being superfluous another thing is that you consider it superfluous. I added the column precisely because I was trying to read about the monarchs according to the region they are in. Maybe you have no use for such functionality, but I did. And likewise, probably other editors would find that filter useful as well. Therefore it was not superfluous.

Regarding the realms of the British monarch outside of Europe, he is head of state there due to the British colonization. It would be misleading to have listed the British monarch as monarch of each one of those individual realms like if he was a native monarch of those places.

They do belong to the Commonwealth of Nations. Although in theory each one of them is free and equal, the fact is they have as monarch someone not native of their nation. Jamaica doesn't have a Jamaican monarch, they have a British monarch. Likewise for the rest of them. Therefore it makes sense listing all the nations where the British monarch is head of state as under Europe, because they have a European monarch. Hi. Please don't make any changes when the discussion is not over. The Queen's case (and that of her successors) is different from her predecessors. At the coronation in 1953, the Queen was the first monarch to be crowned with separate titles in each of her then-seven realms. Coronation Contingents and fleet review ships were sent from every realm, and guard was held at Buckingham Palace by troops of every realm. And each realm's Coronation Standard was marched in the procession. Every realm was represented at the ceremony. Removing all the realms and substituting it with "UK and six other Commonwealth realms" is WP:UNDUE. As far as consistency is concerned, the King also has a separate title in each of his 15 realms, like his mother. When sources appear listing the King's realms at his coronation, then we can add them. Opening an RfC will just be a waste of time as the King's coronation has not been held yet, and even if the RfC is held I'm sure ill-informed editors will vote for a nonsense proposal without knowing the above stated facts. In realms which have a party system, the leader of the party (or coalition) with the most seats after an election is received by the governor-general (or the Sovereign in the case of UK), and invited to form a government. The Sovereign or the governor-general, on behalf of The Crown, then appoints the leader as prime minister and administers the required oaths.^[1][2]

In Solomon Islands and Tuvalu, due to the underdeveloped party system, a majority of the members of parliament are elected as 'Independents'. There isn't any party who forms a majority so that its leader be appointed prime minister. Because of this, it is the elected members of parliament who elect the prime minister, and this happens during an election meeting presided over and conducted by the governor-general.^[3] After the election, the governor-general announces the result, and declares the winner to have been elected prime minister.^[4]

So, even though the prime ministers of Solomon Islands and Tuvalu are elected by parliament, it is the governor-general who formally swears in the prime minister.^[5] In Papua New Guinea, the governor-general himself is elected by parliament, but it is the Sovereign who formally appoints him to the office.^[6] Peter Ormond 💬 08:01, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
