Tagging pages for speedy deletion

Hello, Vitaium,

Please review Criteria for Speedy Deletion. A G13 tag can only be applied six months after the last human edit and it is too soon for Draft:"Sacrifice". You need to check the page history with every draft. Liz Read! Talk! 02:11, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Brookhaven RP article

Hello! You created the Brookhaven RP article, however you didn't establish that it was notable at all as all the sources are self-published sources which do not establish notability. ― Blaze The WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#0001 00:25, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The main reason the article was redirected was due to the game not having individual notability. Non-free rationale for File:Newest Brookhaven RP thumbnail.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Newest Brookhaven RP thumbnail.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging pages for speedy deletion

Hello, Vitaium,

If you are going to tag pages for speedy deletion, please be sure you are not only familiar but that you know CSD criteria very well. Review this policy page. Know what name space each criteria applies to and when it is appropriate to use them and when it would be better to use WP:PROD or nominate an article for WP:AFD. Above all, if you can understand the sentences in an article, if they are written in English or another language, they are not "nonsense" or "gibberish". Gibberish would be a page that has "dkjlWIJ#($)NNKKK!!!!L)+ku$" typed on it. That would be considered nonsense.

If you have questions about the CSD criteria or tagging pages for deletion, please bring them to the Teahouse. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 22:25, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the report at WP:UAA but please note that some wikis allow organisation accounts - see Commons policy for an example, the German wiki is another. Please don't report users at WP:UAA if they haven't edited on this wiki. Cabayi (talk) 19:28, 3 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop

Hello, Vitaium,

Please stop tagging pages for speedy deletion. You have clearly not reviewed Criteria for Speedy Deletion as I asked you to because you are tagging pages for reasons that are not approved. Having a draft in a foreign language is not grounds for deletion. You continually misunderstand what is meant by "nonsense and gibberish". Do not tag any more pages for speedy deletion until you have more editing experience because you are not doing it correctly. Spend your time improving existing articles and other tasks. Liz Read! CSD: Final warning

Hello Vitaium, I hope you are well. I see that Liz has approached you a few times to caution you about speedy deletion tagging ([1][2][3]). Unfortunately, it seems that you have not taken her advice to heart:

  • This was clearly not an A1 (the subject is clearly identifiable) or an A7 (the subject is not a person, animal, organization, web content, or event).
  • This was neither a test page, vandalism, an attack page, or unambiguous advertising (and the last two of these contradict each other)
  • The same goes for this.

I also see that Theroadislong left you some other deletion-related warnings a few days ago ([4][5]); I share their concerns as well.

Since you have not responded to any of those concerns (or to most other messages people have left for you), I feel forced to be blunt: Your current conduct in deletion-related areas is highly disruptive. If I see more issues like this arise, I will block you. Please slow down, focus on making meaningful content contributions to existing articles, and only return to deletion tagging once you are certain you are sufficiently familiar with the applicable policies and guidelines, particularly WP:CSD.

I'm sorry that it has come to this. I appreciate that you are here with the best of intentions, and I hope this can be resolved without sanctions. Please let me know if you have any questions. --Blablubbs (talk) 11:41, 15 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File copyright problem with File:Charax gibbosus.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Charax gibbosus.jpg. However, it is currently missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Feedback Unclear,

It is completely unclear to me why you think that removal of the label propagandist on Laura Ingraham page, is vandalism.

The issue with the propagandist on the "Laura Ingraham page" only shows up on my android Wikipedia app. On a PC it does not show up.

But either way, how do we get rid of it on the android version? It is clearly not in the spirit of Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gaither (talk • contribs) 05:56, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Vitaium,

Most active editors do not appreciate other editors tagging their User pages for deletion. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if I went through your User pages and randomly deleted some. Besides, this page wasn't eligible for a CSD G13 so the tagging was doubly inappropriate. But I advise you to spend your time in article, talk, draft and project space and not busy yourself with other editor's User pages. I can't think of a good reason why you would even wander through another editor's User space so please find other activities to keep yourself busy. Thank you. Liz Read! WikiProject Weather: Map Dot & Template/Infobox Colors

Dear project member, This message is being sent out to encourage new ideas and feedback on those proposed in regard to the colors debate for WikiProject Weather. For those who are unaware of what's been happening over the last year, I will give a brief summary. We have been discussing proposed changes to the colors of the dots on tropical cyclone maps and templates and infoboxes across the entire weather project in order to solve issues related to the limited contrast between colors for both normal vision as well as the various types of color blindness (MOS:ACCESS). We had partially implemented a proposal earlier this year, however, it was objected to by a number of people and additional issues were presented that made it evident this wasn't the optimal solution. We tried to come up with other solutions to address the issues related to color contrast, however, none of them gained traction and no consensus was generated.

We need your help and I encourage you to propose your own scale and give feedback on those already listed. Keep in mind that we are NOT making a decision on any individual proposal at this time. We are simply allowing people to make proposals and cultivate them given feedback from other project members. Please visit our project page for additional details. The proposal phase will close no later than December 31st at 23:59 UTC. NoahTalk 02:43, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Avoiding cut-and-paste moves

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Poaceae a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Grass. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. See also previous RM discussions at Talk:Poaceae; a new consensus will be needed to move this page. DanCherek (talk) 03:48, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@DanCherek  Thanks But I actually wanted to copy and paste all of its content to grass in order to comply with WP:COMMONNAME Vitaium (talk) 03:50, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I know. But that has been previously rejected, for example at Talk:Poaceae#Requested move 28 May 2020, so another RM is needed prior to such a move. Even if there is consensus for a move, you shouldn't do so by copying and pasting. DanCherek (talk) 03:51, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Pinus sylvestris

The article Pinus sylvestris you nominated as a good article has failed ; see Talk:Pinus sylvestris for reasons why the nomination failed. If or when these points have been taken care of, you may apply for a new nomination of the article. CSS example

Hello, thank you for your contribution on CSS. However, the image is quite large (especially for phone users). I think using just one or two selectors, perhaps one with multiple rules, will convey the same information but take up much less space. Lightbloom (talk) 18:57, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Lightbloom When I switch to desktop view, the image is not that big. Vitaium (talk) 22:09, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It's because the image is much longer than it is wider, so for phones and other devices that display in portrait it will take up much more of the screen's proportions. Lightbloom (talk) 22:24, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

September 2023

Information icon Hello, I'm Anaxial. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Swan, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Anaxial (talk) 15:32, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Anaxial But whooper swan is in the subgenus Cygnus while mute swan is in the subgenus Olor, how is it possible then the type species is mute swan? Vitaium (talk) 23:59, 16 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you have a better source, then by all means provide it. Although I will note that for the correct type species designation to be Cygnus cygnus you'd have to demonstrate that the genus name Cygnus was in use before it was first coined, which seems unlikely - but that's a matter of the correct name, not the identity of the species. Either way, we need a reliable source, and, if you have one, that's absolutely fine. Anaxial (talk) 06:08, 17 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
