Sysmex America Achieves Clinical Laboratory Connectivity Milestone

MUNDELEIN, Ill., March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — Sysmex America, Inc., a global leader in medical diagnostic testing equipment and information systems technology, today announced its 200th placement of Sysmex WAM(TM) Decision Support Software for the Clinical Laboratory. Sysmex WAM is now connecting nearly 600 sites and approximately 1,000 instruments in clinical laboratories across the U.S. and Canada. Sysmex WAM plays a key role in delivering leading-edge functionality that helps laboratories improve key metrics such as turnaround times.

“Sysmex America continues to see more customers requesting software solutions to better streamline the work area and software tools that enable complex analysis,” said Deborah Hewett-Smith, Director of Marketing, I.T. Products, Sysmex America. Sysmex WAM’s product architecture allows Sysmex to serve a wide variety of customer types with a single product. Its LIS interoperability enables Sysmex to integrate WAM to more than 30 different laboratory information systems including commercial systems such as Cerner and Sunquest and customer-supported (homegrown) systems.

Sysmex offers unique, scalable automation and IT solutions that provide efficiency gain opportunities for a broad spectrum of hematology laboratories – from those performing testing as low as 200 CBCs to as high as 30,000+ CBCs / daily. “Sysmex WAM complements this scale of testing by managing and standardizing clinical results across a single testing site or as an enterprise-wide solution to connect multiple testing sites or even sites with multiple LISs,” added Hewett-Smith. Sysmex WAM’s automation integration capability enables analyzers of all sizes and quantities, sorting, and cell image analysis systems to connect to a single WAM.

In fourth quarter 2011, Sysmex America launched the newest version of its Sysmex WAM(TM) middleware software platform, which includes the Sysmex WAM Management Reports Module. This module features new tools such as ‘point and click’ navigation, which enables the user to quickly develop on-demand reports, facilitating management decisions related to optimizing laboratory efficiency. An additional Sysmex WAM product, which was showcased during last year’s AACC, enables auto-validation capability for the smaller laboratories and is expected to launch summer 2012. All new features and modules are designed specifically for the hematology lab to enable improved laboratory efficiency and optimization.
