This paper will discuss the utilization of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) to enhance the ability of a laboratory to retrieve and use quality control data to its fullest value. The discussion will include concrete examples from real life laboratory situations. It will show how quality control data that has already been collected can be "mined" to retrieve additional quality control information. This additional quality control information can be used to further support analytical data reported by the laboratory and provide laboratory customers with an additional level of confidence.
