“The Office of the Kentucky State Medical Examiner, which is part of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet (JPSC) pursuant to KRS 12.020, provides facilities and personnel for post-mortem and other examinations to aid coroners by providing medical assistance in investigating deaths. JPSC, on behalf of the Office of the Kentucky State Medical Examiner, is seeking proposals by full-service laboratories for the provision of genetic analyses in helping to elucidate genetic markers for cardiac arrhythmogenic syndromes which may reveal cause of death and/or identify if blood relatives are at risk for sudden death or genetic disease. Laboratories shall perform testing, analyses, and reporting of postmortem forensic specimens, including blood, tissue, and other specimens unique to the postmortem state to determine potentially genetic cardiac arrhythmogenic syndromes which can cause death.”
