Using Data Analytics to Capture Actionable Metadata in Research Labs
Modern research generates overwhelming volumes of complex data, making metadata—information that describes and organizes other data to make it easier to find, understand, and use—as crucial as the data itself. However, this “data about data” often falls short of modern scientific standards. The new goal is to capture actionable metadata, dynamic, comprehensive data such as experimental parameters, equipment calibration, and sample lineage.
