BxAF mLIMS: the only web-based solution for animal researchers
BxAF mLIMS is the only web-based solution for the need to organize laboratory animal-related information, such as mice, cages, animal events (mouse pregnancy, littering…), and animal-related research results.
BxAF mLIMS has inherited the “Group” data management capability from BxAF technologies. Group manager can set up the system so that group members can team up and share their animal related information.
BxAF mLIMS is highly integrated so that users can quickly find out related information. For example, they can easily browse all animals and figure out the animal’s birthday, sex, color, strain, genotype, cage, toe clipping code or ear punching code, and more. All stored data are searchable and can be sorted based on various features. Furthermore, on the same webpage, users can find out what other animals are in the same cage, the properties of cage-mates (e.g. sex, age, toe clipping code, genotype…). In addition, all related animal events and experiments are also listed so users can figure out exactly what happened to a specific animal.
BxAF mLIMS also comes with various summaries. On the main page, users can quickly overview the statistics of cages and animals: how many cages are in use, how many live animals they have, the average number of animals per cage, how many pup / adult / male /female animals, and much more.
In addition, BxAF mLIMS has a set of integrated reminders. The reminders currently include:
- Empty cages
- Non-caged live animals
- Breeding cages (mix of adult male/female animals)
- Potential breeding cages (mix of male/female pup animals)
- Overcrowded cages (>5 adult animals)
- Potentially overcrowded cages (>5 animals)
- Cages with unknown sex adult animals
- Cages with unknown sex pup animals
- Recent animal events (Plugs Found, Pregnant, Littering)
With these reminders, users can easily figure out the potential problems (e.g. overcrowding or incorrect mix of male/female animals …) and be ready for what will happen soon (wean animals in potentially overcrowded cages, watch out pregnant animals, transfer litters…).
Lastly, BxAF mLIMS users can easily export and download their animal-related information. Currently, the exported data are in CSV format which can be readily opened with Excel programs.
