Biocompare, Inc. Announces RNAi Center

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–March 3, 2004–Biocompare Inc., the online buyers guide for life scientists, announced today that it has launched the RNAi Center as part of Biocompare.com.

The RNAi Center was created to give scientists a single website where they can learn about siRNA and RNAi products from leading suppliers including Invitrogen, New England Biolabs, Ambion, Qiagen, Epicentre, Novagen, Mirus, Upstate and Stratagene.

The website includes an extensive product directory with detailed product specs, streaming product videos, new technology profiles, press releases, industry news, professional product reviews, and unique editorial content that focuses on the latest tools and technologies for those interested in siRNA and RNAi.

According to Michael Okimoto, Ph.D., Vice President of Content Development, “With more and more life scientists turning to siRNA to meet the challenges of gene expression analysis, we felt the need to give them a single website where they can find, learn about, and compare the latest products for their research, and then easily link to supplier websites. With the RNAi Center on Biocompare we have done exactly that.”

To coincide with the launch of the RNAi Center, Biocompare will also be conducting an RNAi market survey. This survey will answer such questions as who the market leader is for RNAi kits and reagents, who is using siRNA products, and what improvements researchers want to see in siRNA products. This will be the second RNAi survey conducted by Biocompare. The first, administered in July 2003, surveyed 929 researchers regarding their use of RNAi and siRNA and revealed that this market is growing rapidly.
