IMPAC Medical Systems and Siemens Medical Solutions Agree to Jointly Develop DICOM-RT Interfaces for Oncology-Based Products

IMPAC Medical Systems, Inc., a leading provider of information technology solutions for oncology care, and Siemens Medical Solutions, a world leading supplier of healthcare solutions has announced their agreement to use a full DICOM-RT compliant specification for the development of an interface to connect Siemens PRIMUS and ONCOR Linear Accelerators and COHERENCE Suite of Oncology Workspace solutions with IMPAC’s oncology management system.

The DICOM-RT standard has been developed specifically for radiation oncology to allow transmittal of data and images between various applications in the radiation oncology arena. “Standardization provides key benefits for customers. It means greater flexibility in purchasing new products and more rapid adoption of new technologies. We are long overdue for standardization in radiation oncology and are pleased that Siemens, our partner for 12 years, is working with us to achieve this goal,” stated Joseph K. Jachinowski, president and CEO of IMPAC.
