University of Vermont College of Medicine Deploys Advanced Clinical Software’s Study Manager to Manage Clinical Trials
The University of Vermont (UVM) College of Medicine announced that it has completed its initial rollout of Advanced Clinical Software’s Study Manager(TM) CTMS (clinical trial management software). Study Manager is part of UVM’s new and more efficient clinical research infrastructure that will significantly reduce the cost of conducting clinical research while further enhancing research quality.
Additionally, UVM will use Advanced Clinical Software’s newest product, Study Manager EDC (electronic data capture) to manage a large breast cancer trial involving over 50 sites for a major pharmaceutical company. UVM intends to use Study Manager EDC to capture clinical data on future trials as well.
“After an extensive evaluation process, we were impressed by the comprehensive feature set offered by Study Manager CTMS and Study Manager EDC, which we believe will yield significant cost reductions,” said Tesheia Johnson, UVM Assistant Dean for Clinical Trials Research. “These products will allow us to more closely manage and track clinical trial operations, finances, and clinical data, and achieve our goal of building a first-class clinical research infrastructure.”
“Study Manager was a natural choice for UVM since it is a mature, comprehensive solution with all the features they needed to start seeing benefits in a very short timeframe,” said Bruce D. Schatzman, President of ACS. “Study Manager has become the preferred software among academic medical centers, hospitals, and research sites because it allows them to achieve a new level of control, cost reduction, and overall quality.”
Located in Burlington, the University of Vermont College of Medicine (www.med.uvm.edu ), in alliance with teaching hospital partner Fletcher Allen Health Care, is home to both an NCI-designated comprehensive Cancer Center and an NIH-funded General Clinical Research Center. The College ranks in the top third of US medical schools for grants per faculty member. The Office of Clinical Trials Research was created to help the general public and patients in their search for clinical trials information, to assist Principal Investigators with the business and regulatory aspects of clinical research, and to attract high-quality research projects to the university.
ACS (www.ClinicalSoftware.net ) is a privately held company focused exclusively on building solutions for the clinical trial industry. Its flagship product, Study Manager(TM), is used today by over 1,700 organizations ranging from small research centers to major institutions including Baylor Healthcare, Duke Clinical Research Institute, Medical College of Georgia, Northwestern University, the National Institutes of Health, Johns Hopkins University, and many others.
