Arcelor Demonstrates Commitment to Sustainable Development by Implementing Global Environmental Data Tracking System from ESP

Arcelor, a leader in the world’s steel industry, has selected ESP’s (Environmental Software Providers) opsEnvironmental software to serve as the backbone of a corporate-wide environmental data tracking and reporting system. The project will help Arcelor deliver on its goal to establish accurate company-wide environmental metrics and drive progress through international application of best practices. opsEnvironmental helps companies track, manage, and report on air, water and material inventory data from the facility level to the corporate level. The web-based software will be implemented by ERM Information Solutions, covering 140 facilities throughout the world. It will be delivered with an end-user interface in seven languages, including English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, and Portuguese.

“Arcelor is committed to sustainability and environmental best practices,” said Karl Buttiens, Senior Vice-President, Environment at Arcelor. “It can be a challenge to manage environmental performance on a global scale. We selected ERM Information Solutions and ESP’s opsEnvironmental software because we believe this team will help us deliver on our commitment to manage environmental performance by implementing a flexible system for tracking performance metrics throughout our global operations. The team provides an unequalled blend of technology and expertise that is perfectly matched to our requirements.”

David Cox, Vice President of Sales at ESP, said “We are fully committed to providing companies in Europe and throughout the world with software that can help them meet their environmental data management needs. Arcelor’s decision to implement the software validates that it truly delivers value on a global scale.” opsEnvironmental will allow Arcelor’s plant personnel worldwide to quickly and easily provide performance data and review metrics. At the same time, the software will give corporate staff in Luxembourg the ability to track performance, benchmark process units and facilities, and roll up the data along business units, geography, management responsibility, etc.

The opsEnvironmental implementation will be carried out by ERM Information Solutions, an ESP implementation partner. “ERM Information Solutions is pleased to partner with Arcelor to provide this global environmental performance management solution. We have worked closely with ESP many times to deliver software solutions that successfully streamline environmental management and reporting, and we are particularly pleased to support this critical aspect of Arcelor’s environmental management program,” said Peter Walsh, European Client Services Director for ERM Information Solutions.

opsEnvironmental is currently in use in a variety of industries to manage environmental data from the facility level to the corporate level. The software helps companies track and report on air, water and waste emissions as well as corporate metrics. Its open architecture allows integration with other data collection, maintenance management and enterprise resource management systems, and its enterprise design makes it ideal for multi-facility companies.
