Teijin Pharma Deploys Datastream 7i in Manufacturing Site to Optimize Asset Performance and Meet Regulatory Requirements
Datastream Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: DSTM) today announced that Teijin Pharma Limited is deploying the Datastream 7i(TM) Asset Performance Management solution in its manufacturing site in Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan. Teijin Pharma chose Datastream because of its demonstrated success at reducing operating costs, improving equipment availability and supporting compliance with government regulations. The deployment was led by Datastream Japan’s partner, JGC Corporation.
With a staff of approximately 1,600 people, Teijin Pharma is a member of the Teijin Industrial Group and competes in the Japanese pharmaceutical sector with operations and business interests throughout Japan. Teijin Pharma is the developer of leading pharmaceutical products including Bonalon(R), a treatment for osteoporosis; Venilon(R), a treatment for severe infectious diseases; and Mucosolvan(R), an expectorant. The company is also striving to further strengthen its activities and relationships throughout the world.
Because Datastream 7i provides comprehensive functionality including calibration and electronic signatures and records, it has emerged as the leading Asset Performance Management solution among pharmaceutical companies worldwide. This deployment also adds to Datastream’s growing momentum in the Asia-Pacific region, with Teijin Pharma joining a growing number of Japanese companies using Datastream solutions both in Japan and overseas.
“The multi-organization, multi-language capabilities of Datastream 7i make it the ideal Asset Performance Management solution for companies engaged in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Larry Blackwell, Datastream’s president and CEO. “Companies can seamlessly deploy Datastream 7i across multiple facilities in different countries and fully conform to the cultural, linguistic and monetary requirements of each location. This combination of localized functionality and centralized data collection and analysis enables Asset Performance Management on an international scale.”
“Datastream and JGC have a strong track record of success in Japan,” said Yoshiaki Nagata, principal system engineer with JGC Corporation. “We have worked with Teijin Pharma and Datastream to deploy a comprehensive solution that fully supports Teijin Pharma’s manufacturing processes. Datastream 7i enables Teijin Pharma to reduce operating costs and improve equipment uptime.”
Dale Suzuki, managing director of Datastream Japan, noted that there is strong interest in Asset Performance Management solutions within the Japanese pharmaceutical sector as a result of strengthening compliance and regulatory measures in the country. “We believe Japan’s pharmaceutical industry is paying close attention to compliance trends in the U.S. and Europe,” said Suzuki. “Pharmaceutical companies worldwide share a common challenge: to adopt solutions that enable them to comply with regulations, while simultaneously reducing operating costs and improving equipment uptime, product quality and safety. Datastream 7i enables them to meet this challenge through the implementation of Asset Performance Management.”
