NI Celebrates Sixth Consecutive Year as One of FORTUNE’s `100 Best Companies to Work For’

FORTUNE magazine has named National Instruments (NASDAQ:NATI) one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, marking the sixth consecutive year the company has appeared on the prestigious list. National Instruments ranked 40 on FORTUNE’s 2005 list with the company’s fun and relaxed environment, open company-wide communication and consistent commitment to employees through challenging economic times among the characteristics noted in making the Austin-based company a great place to work.

“My vision for National Instruments originated from wanting to create a place I would love to go to work every day,” explained Dr. James Truchard, NI president, CEO and co-founder. “It is an honor to again be selected as one of the best 100 places to work because it proves it is possible to create a great employee experience while building a successful business. We strive to honor the hard work our employees do by offering them a fun, inspiring work environment that emphasizes individuality, innovation, respect, growth and ownership.”

While National Instruments is best known for pioneering virtual instrumentation with its LabVIEW graphical programming environment, internal company programs support the company’s belief that well-rounded employees foster the NI community and provide inspiration to excel. Community outreach programs such as NI Community Connections and ROBOLAB offer NI employees opportunities to directly impact and improve their local community, while events such as the company-wide NI Live talent show and expo offer a glimpse into co-workers’ lives and talents outside of work. The Wellness Circuit initiative assists employees in staying healthy and productive, and the annual Employee Appreciation Week reminds employees that National Instruments values them as important assets.

“We believe that our ‘people advantage’ — hiring the best and the brightest, creating a great work environment and offering superior employee development — is central to the long-term success of all other NI stakeholders,” said Mark Finger, NI vice president of human resources. “We are continually looking for innovative new ways to foster the unique National Instruments culture and make it not only a workplace but also a fulfilling and fun part of our employees’ lives.”

How FORTUNE Chose the 100 Best

The Great Place to Work Institute compiles the list of best employers for FORTUNE each year. The institute surveyed a random sample of employees from 1,000 candidate companies. Two-thirds of the decision is based on how these randomly selected employees respond to the independent survey measuring the quality of their workplace culture. The remainder of the score is based on the evaluation of company responses to several questions. For more information on the FORTUNE 100 Best Companies to Work For list, visit www.fortune.com .
