Stanford Laboratory Delivers Electronic Reports Using Axolotl’s Elysium Solution

This month, Stanford University Medical Center’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine implemented a community-based electronic clinical reporting system by Axolotl Corporation, a provider of health information management solutions. Axolotl’s Elysium EMR provides physicians in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and Watsonville Counties the ability to quickly access and manage their patients’ test results, online.

“The Stanford Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is rapidly growing to meet the needs of our laboratory service partners,” says Louis Tzoumbas, director of marketing and sales at Stanford Laboratory. “We are pleased to be able to electronically deliver reports to these physicians, especially since more than 70% of our referring physicians in Santa Cruz County use Axolotl’s Elysium system.”

Currently, Stanford Laboratory has five satellite patient service centers in Monterey, Santa Cruz and Watsonville, which will begin providing electronic lab results. These results, in conjunction with other online medical records, will help physicians make efficient and complete decisions. In addition, patients will benefit from a decreased wait for lab results, as they are delivered electronically to the doctors, immediately upon completion. Once the electronic lab results are received, they are added to the patient’s electronic medical record, providing a complete view of all past medical history, which will aid in treatment discussions.

“We are delighted to be working with the Stanford University Medical Center’s Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine to provide electronic delivery for a portion of their lab results,” reported Glenn Keet, vice president of professional services at Axolotl. “This essential component of patient data, added to the other clinical data we electronically deliver to physicians, provides an important source of patient information, further completing the patient’s electronic medical record.”

“We welcome Stanford to the growing number of hospitals, labs and radiology centers that distribute electronic patient data to the physicians in our Northern California communities,” reported Ray Scott, Axolotl’s CEO. “As patients, we benefit when our care providers receive clinical data delivered timely and electronically to their own systems. Better healthcare through better communication is what Axolotl strives to achieve.”
