DataLabs Announces Support for Microsoft’s Digital Pharma Initiative
DataLabs, an innovative developer of Internet-based applications for clinical development, today announced support of Microsoft’s Digital Pharma initiative, a vision and solutions framework that enables pharmaceutical companies to drive innovation across the enterprise and address strategic value-chain capability requirements.
DataLabs’ flagship product suite, DataLabsXC, enables the biopharmaceutical and CRO industries to quickly and easily design studies, capture clinical data, automate workflow and integrate legacy systems. Unlike application service provider (ASP) models, DataLabs licenses DataLabsXC software directly to customers, offering the flexibility to adapt the software to unique specifications and conduct studies in a cost-effective manner. The result is improved data quality and accelerated product development, meeting the imperatives of “speed-to-insight” and “value for cost” identified by the Digital Pharma initiative.
“DataLabs’ product suite, DataLabsXC, offers the biopharmaceutical and CRO industries a flexible and adaptable solution that helps companies make better, faster business decisions in way that is cost-effective,” said Steve Shihadeh, general manager, Microsoft Healthcare and Life Sciences. “We are pleased to align with knowledgeable, experienced partners like DataLabs who have developed innovative industry solutions that really exemplify the Microsoft Digital Pharma vision.”
DataLabs customers achieve low total cost of ownership and high return on investment through the combination of DataLabs’ innovative product suite and Microsoft technologies, including Windows Server 2003, SQL Server 2000, BizTalk Server 2002 and Microsoft Office Visio 2003. DataLabsXC was developed using the Microsoft .NET Framework, an architecture designed to support XML Web services. Applications built using the Microsoft .NET Framework can connect with existing systems and packaged applications regardless of the underlying platform. DataLabsXC also features support for the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium (CDISC) operational data model (ODM) version 1.2. DataLabs is one of the first vendors to offer formal support for this standard as part of its product suite.
“DataLabs is committed to delivering on the promise of the Microsoft Digital Pharma initiative,” said James Langford, DataLabs president. “For our pharma clients, our applications improve the business processes in clinical development while enabling our clients to develop new products faster and with fewer resources For our CRO partners, our applications enable them to increase both their revenue and profits as they provide critical services to their pharma clients.”
