Ocimum Biosolutions introduces OciChips™, formerly known as THE MWG arrays
Ocimum Biosolutions, a life science R&D enabling company with competencies in BioIT, microarrays and contract research launches “OciChips™”, DNA microarrays recently acquired from MWG Biotech.
Ms. Anuradha Acharya, CEO of Ocimum Biosolutions said “Ocimum completed the acquisition of this division recently and we are happy to continue the superior technology offered by these chips. We also plan to retain most of MWG’s GD business customers and offer newer products and services.”

About Genomic Diagnosis and Acquisition
DNA-Microarrays, also known as biochips, are tools of increasing importance for academia and industry for basic research and for increasing the understanding of the influences of a multitude of factors on disease processes. Ocimum will take over MWG’s portfolio of biochips on the complete genomes of a multitude of model organisms (including rat, mouse, zebra fish, etc.) as well as a biochip representing the complete human genome. As part of this deal, Ocimum will handle the business of custom arrays, biochips made to customer specification, and the oligo sets for clients who want to produce their own biochips.
The products in the area of array technology at MWG presently include Hybridization Service, Catalog Arrays, Oligo Sets, Consumable and Kits, Software and Array User Information. The India wide and international interest in these products is enormous.
Ocimum will continue these operations in Germany. Ocimum soon plans to start wet lab services in India as part of this expansion.
