Agilent Technologies’ Automated Lab-on-a-Chip Platform Wins R&D Magazine’s 100 Award for Technological Significance

Agilent Technologies Inc. today announced that its 5100 Automated Lab-on-a-Chip Platform has been recognized as one of the top 100 technologically significant new products of the year by R&D Magazine.

Each year, the editors of R&D Magazine and 50 outside experts evaluate thousands of entries submitted by companies, research organizations and universities worldwide. The 100 award winners represent significant advances in technology that provide simple solutions to complex or long-standing technical or practical problems. Past winners include the fax machine, the liquid crystal display, and high-definition television (HDTV).

Agilent’s 5100 Automated Lab-on-a-Chip Platform is the first fully automated, high-throughput lab-on-a-chip system for basic life science research and drug discovery. It provides unattended analysis of thousands of DNA or protein samples per day, replacing tedious, time-consuming gel electrophoresis and thereby facilitating large-scale genomic and proteomic applications.
