Dade Behring Launches Viva-Jr(TM) Drug Testing System; New system provides criminal justice and low-volume clinical laboratories with the most validated, gold standard drug testing methodology in the industry
Dade Behring Inc. (NASDAQ:DADE), the world’s largest company solely dedicated to clinical diagnostics, today announced that it has launched the Viva-Jr(TM) Drug Testing System for the criminal justice and low-volume clinical laboratories. The Viva-Jr(TM) Drug Testing System is designed to use Syva’s gold standard EMIT(R) test reagents, the most widely used and extensively validated in the industry. Dade Behring now offers a complete line of Viva(R) drug testing systems that meet the needs of the low-, medium-, and high-volume clinical laboratories.
“Dade Behring is committed to providing practical, relevant innovation to our customers,” said Jim Reid-Anderson, Chairman, President and CEO, Dade Behring. “The Viva-Jr(TM) System is another example of this commitment, offering customers a new state-of-the-art drug testing system for the clinical and criminal justice laboratories.”
The Viva-Jr(TM) System is a small counter-top analyzer with a broad menu of Syva’s EMIT(R) drugs-of-abuse tests and multiple timesaving operator benefits. It is the only analyzer of its size that has features found in mid- and high-volume drug testing analyzers.
Drugs-of-abuse tests are used in a wide range of settings including hospitals, industry and criminal justice labs to monitor for the presence of illicit drugs, and are frequently used in substance-abuse treatment programs to monitor compliance with drug rehabilitation programs.
Under the Syva(R) and EMIT(R) brand names, Dade Behring offers tests that either detect or provide quantitative measures of therapeutic drugs, drugs-of-abuse, and drugs used to prevent rejection of transplanted organs. Dade Behring continues to offer a broad menu of these drug tests on its Dimension(R), V-Twin(R) and Viva-E(TM) Systems. These instruments fit the needs of the mid- and high-volume clinical laboratories.
The Syva(R) name remains, after more than three decades, the leading brand in this market segment. Outside the clinical laboratory, Syva serves segments including criminal justice, occupational health, and on-site employment testing, among others.
The Viva-Jr(TM) Drug Testing System was developed and is manufactured by Vital Scientific NV, a Netherlands corporation which is a subsidiary of Clinical Data, Inc. Dade Behring is the sole distributor of the instrument.
