About the Virtual Institute:

Bioinformatics education and training programs are crucial to the development of a cutting-edge life sciences work force. The Virtual Institute Summer Session program assembles top educators from a cross-section of prominent academic and research institutions to deliver intensive courses in the leading life sciences tools and techniques. The program’s Short Courses and Workshops, held at the Bossone Research Center on the Drexel University campus, educate scientists in advanced life sciences research tools and help participants form personal and professional networks in the life sciences industry. Directed by Aydin Tozeren, Ph.D, Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Drexel University and co-Director of the Greater Philadelphia Bioinformatics Alliance, the Virtual Institute Summer Session is supported by an NSF Partnership for Innovation grant, an NIH Roadmap grant, and a Workforce Leadership grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
