AACC ANNOUNCES AUDIOCONFERENCE ON AUTOVERIFICATION OF LAB RESULTS
Washington DC, March 12, 2009 The American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) announces an audioconference on Leveraging Autoverification for Greater Lab Efficiency to be held Wednesday, April 22 at 2:00 pm (Eastern). The audioconference will last approximately 90 minutes.
In the current economic climate, many laboratories, although already understaffed, are facing budget cuts and hiring freezes. It is increasingly important, therefore, for labs to make effective use of the labor-saving technologies that are already available on their laboratory information systems (LIS) and analyzers. One such technology – autoverification – is still used sparingly by some laboratories. Others, however, autoverify as much as 80% of their test results.
What can laboratories do to increase the percentage of test results they autoverify and reduce the number of staff hours needed for the manual verification of results? Previous AACC autoverification audioconferences have outlined the general concepts and advantages of autoverification. This audioconference takes autoverification activities to the next level, providing examples of how it can be applied in the day-to-day operation of the laboratory.
The audioconference faculty, all of whom use autoverification extensively and lecture on this and other lab automation topics frequently, includes:
Jay B. Jones, PhD, (Moderator), Director of Chemistry & Regional Labs, Geisinger Health System, Danville, PA
William Neeley, MD, Medical Director of Laboratories, Detroit Medical Center, Detroit, MI
Susan Dawson, MS, Clinical Lab Manager, Swedish Covenant Hospital, Chicago, IL
More information about the audioconference is available on the AACC website here. AACC is pleased to offer interested members of the press complimentary registration to this timely audioconference. To register, complete and submit the Press Registration Form. For more information about the audioconference, or about AACC, please contact Peter Patterson at ppatterson@aacc.org or on the telephone numbers above.
This audioconference is supported by a generous educational grant from Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics.
