Information Systems Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY: The Information Systems Analyst will configure, integrate, and manage a variety of information systems at Bell’s Brewery. This position works with internal customers to improve data processes related to beer production, packaging, quality, and logistics. As part of the operations team, the Analyst will support the conception, design, development, and deployment of enterprise applications for the brewery. The first responsibility of the role will be to manage the implementation of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery.

•    Manages the design and deployment of new systems, primarily the completion of LIMS for the Quality Department.

•    Works with internal customers to understand and define project requirements.

•    Facilitates communication between project stakeholders and outside consultants.

•    Creates instructional documents for target users and coordinates integration with departmental SOPs.

•    Trains users on new practices, collecting feedback for future changes. 

•    Serves as the subject matter expert for specific platforms. 

•    Assists users with reporting needs by supporting data export, mining, and analysis.

•    Advocates continuous improvement as it relates to information management.

•    Audits installed systems to validate proper technical and functional operation.

•    Troubleshoots hardware and software issues to resolution; documents unresolved problems such that they can be reproduced and addressed.

 

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

MATERIALS/MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED:

•    Multi-line phone system

•    Computers (Primary Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

•    General office equipment (copier, printer, fax, scanner)

 

IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

•    Exceptional technical communication skills specifically for tasks such as requirements definition, bug tracking and reporting, process flows, and training documentation.

•    Strong database skills for writing advanced queries and stored procedures.

•    Understands common data structures and communication protocols.

•    Ability to understand and write code in two or more programming/scripting languages.

•    Experience as a power user of modern enterprise applications.

•    Familiarity with or interest in user centered design principles.

•    Self-directed learner who can solve problems independently using online search, provided documentation, and technical literature.

•    An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards who will positively represent Bell’s Brewery both internally and externally.

•    Ability to build and maintain relationships with all internal stakeholders

•    Strong organizational & planning skills

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

•    A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Management/Computer Information Systems, or related field.

•    3-5 years of professional experience or post-graduate education in software development/engineering or information systems.

•    Prior experience in project management for information technology or systems.

•    Familiarity with modern information systems and platforms, specifically the following applications already deployed at Bell’s:

o    LIMS (Autoscribe Matrix)

o    ERP (Microsoft Dynamics AX)

o    SCADA/MES (ProLeiT Brewmaxx)

o    Tableau

o    Crystal Reports

o    Microsoft SQL Server Services (Reporting, Integration)

•    An interest and understanding of the craft brewing industry.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

•    Work is primarily performed in an office environment with regular trips to operational areas required.
