LIMS Manager
Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Manager (Fixed Term)
Cambridge, UK
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Manager to work at the MRC Epidemiology Unit, a department within School of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cambridge. The Unit studies the genetic, developmental and environmental factors causing obesity, diabetes and related metabolic disorders and contributes to their prevention.
This role is focused on supporting the NIHR BRC-MRC BioRepository; this is a modern laboratory based in the centre of Addenbrooke's Hospital providing research support for studies and trials on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. It has expertise in supporting small research projects through to large multi-site national studies. The facility has advanced automated systems for retrieving and arraying biological clinical samples for biomarker applications. The LIMS is business critical and captures life-cycle data for all of laboratory activity.
Candidates should be qualified to at least degree level in computer science or a related discipline, or be able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience. The ideal candidate will have experience in configuring, developing and maintaining a LIMS as well as managing laboratory data. Ideally they will be familiar with the software development life cycle in an object orientated language environment (e.g. Java) and have hands-on experience of configuring and maintaining relational databases.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone to work with internationally leading scientists in a dynamic and stimulating research environment. You will be part of a larger data and programming team working at the forefront of epidemiological research.
