Senior R&D Project Manager – Cross-functional Drug Development

Project Leadership 
•The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure of projects at the project level. This role will be autonomous in: 
– Leading a single complex project. 
– Leading multiple projects within a program/or portfolio 
•The Senior Project Manager will be expected to provide direct input and lead the development of project strategy with emphasis on what development plan creates the most value in the development asset while also fitting with the companys overall strategic objectives. 
•The Senior Project Manager will be expected to take a leadership role on the Core Project Team (CPT) and be an active participant at associated team meetings (including expert teams and Project strategy groups). The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for securing the appropriate functional resources for the project team(s) and maintaining well functioning core project team(s). 
•The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the collaboration activities with external partners in the integration of services, technologies and capabilities to ensure delivery of project (where relevant). 
•The Senior Project Manager will be involved in commercial/licensing/partnering/intellectual property activities related to the project(s) and/or program. The Senior Project Manager will need to ensure contractual terms are adhered to. 
•The Senior Project Manager is responsible for providing critical inputs into the business planning process. Key project activities and costs are expected to be estimated, tracked and managed for each cost centre to support R&D executives in planning and prioritization of resources and projects. 
Functional Leadership 
•The Senior Project Manager may be expected to participate in the learning and development of junior project management staff. 
•The Senior Project Manager will be expected to actively represent the Project Management Department(s) on cross-functional change projects. 
•The Senior Project Manager may be expected to represent the site Head of Project Management at major meetings (as required). 
•The Senior Project Manager will actively support and role model expected behaviors and practices rolled out by the Project Management Leadership Team (PMLT) designed to improve the performance of the team (project and Global Project Management group). 
Process Leadership 
 •The Senior Project Manager will be expected to actively participate and may lead the implementation of new processes and process improvement initiatives designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Project Management Department or the R&D division. 
Professional / Discipline Leadership 
•The Senior Project Manager will be expected to demonstrate continued personal growth and development in Leadership, Project Management and R&D Product Development. 
•The Senior Project Manager will be required to demonstrate and model the expected behaviors and practices of the Global R&D Project Management group. 
•The Senior Project Manager will contribute to the advancement of the discipline of Project Management in R&D by representing CSL at external scientific and professional meetings or associations (as required).

Requirements: 

1.  The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and closure of projects at the project level: 

•Project initiation-  The Senior Project Manager will collaborate with project sponsors and stakeholders to ensure that project requirements  and constraints are fully developed and documented.   The Senior Project Manager will secure appropriate cross functional resources to proceed to planning phase. 
•Project planning-  The Senior Project Manager will ensure that plans are developed to measure and monitor progress and that all stakeholders are aware of the status of  the projects.   The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the preparation and management of annual project budgets, long range financial projections, project timelines, project scope documents and all other project documentation. 
•Project execution-  The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading cross functional project teams.   The Senior Project Manager will ensure that the project deliverables are achieved, issues identified, managed and resolved.   The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for identifying, managing and documenting project risks. 
• Project monitoring and control-  The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for monitoring project progress against timelines, budget and quality requirements of the project.   The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for developing corrective action plans and/or leading replanning efforts to minimize/eliminate variances.   The Senior Project Manager will provide routine status updates via formal and informal channels (monthly reports, project review reports, ad hoc reports).   The Senior Project Manager will be expected to present at all levels of Project Review meetings.   The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for the preparation and consolidation of material(s) for key project review meetings. 
•Project closeout-   The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the projects are properly closed out.   The Senior Project Manager will ensure that project documentation is archived and the lessons learned process is performed.   The Senior Project Manager may be involved with leading the lessons learned process. 
2.  The Senior Project Manager will provide direct input and lead the development of the project strategy. 
3.  The Senior Project Manager will play a key leadership role on the Core Project Team (CPT) and be an active participant at associated team meetings (including expert teams and project strategy group). 
4.  The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and management of legal and financial agreements and collaboration activities with external partners in the integration of services, technologies and capabilities to ensure delivery of project (where relevant). 
The Senior Project Manager will be expected to manage and/or oversee activities relating to monitoring of competitive landscape, intellectual property surveillance and project information management. 
The Senior Project Manager will be involved in assisting with commercial/licensing/partnering/intellectual property activities related to the project(s) and/or program.   The Senior Project Manager will need to ensure contractual terms are adhered to. 
5.  The Senior Project Manager is responsible for providing critical inputs into the business planning process including estimating, tracking and managing key project activities and costs for each cost center to support R&D executives in planning and prioritization of resources. 
The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for reconciliation and processing of project invoices against budget. 
6.  The Senior Project Manager may be expected to participate in the learning and development of junior Project Management staff.   
The Senior Project Manager will be expected to actively support and role model expected behaviors and practices rolled out by the Project Management Leadership Team (PMLT) designed to improve the performance of the team.  
7.  The Senior Project Manager will be expected to participate and may lead process improvement initiatives designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Project Management Department or the R&D Division.   The Senior Project Manager will also be expected to represent the Project Management Department on cross-functional change projects. 
8.  The Senior Project Manager will demonstrate continued personal growth and development in Leadership, Project Management and R&D Product Development by: 

•Being willing to participate in internal and/or external training programs. 
•Contributing to the advancement of the discipline of Project Management in R&D Product Development by representing CSL at external scientific and professional meetings or associations (as required).
