Senior IT Solutions Architect

This opening is with a multi-billion dollar global medical company. They have strong revenue growth, a stable environment, very low turnover, and offer the opportunity to work on customized, complex medical products that impact people's lives. A lot of the work they are currently doing is completely next-generation new product development, very exciting cutting edge products. The instruments are large and complex in nature.

We seek an experienced IT Leader who is ready to architect and implement complex automation and IT solutions for mega laboratories performing clinical testing. The person we seek will be able to demonstrate and apply a broad knowledge of Clinical laboratory information system such as (Middleware data management, LIS, Connectivity management, Process Management, Remote connectivity etc) through successful completion of moderately complex assignments.

–    Architect the IT solution for large clinical laboratory for optimal system performance that will incorporate customer workflows.
–    Work with customers’ IT group on design of the clinical laboratory IT infrastructure.
–    Design and deploy IT solution in a virtualized environment. (where applicable)
–    Integrate multiple systems and design High Availability solutions that minimize downtime.
–    Design network topology that connects various IT systems in complicated – enterprise level solution.
–    Lead the overall planning, coordination and delivery of various systems for sophisticated customer lab IT solution design.
 
Responsibilities
–    Manage multiple technical projects and/or implementations simultaneously.
–    Work closely with internal cross-functional teams including Engineering, Service and Sales teams.
–    Work closely with technical resources from client teams in order to finalize designs and properly manage customer relationship.
–    Work with various OEM vendors in order to integrate systems and ensure reliability of the final solution.
–    Ensure that technical challenges, faced throughout the deployment process are correctly identified, managed and resolved.
–    Ensure that projects are clearly scoped, managed, delivered on time, and positioned for long-term success.
–    Apply complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of Software Development Life Cycle.
–    Perform complex design, maintenance, enhancement, testing, implementation, and support of lab informatics software products.
 
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
 Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Informatics, IT Technology, or a related field (or foreign degree equivalent) and 8-10 years of experience in the job offered or in an acceptable alternate occupation.
 
–        Expertise in Software Design and IT System Architecture;
–        Expertise in Software Performance and Scalability;
–        Expertise in communication protocols used in clinical middleware products such as ASTM E1394 and HL7;
–        Expertise in Microsoft Operating System configuration and IT security
–        Expertise in clinical laboratory workflows; laboratory IT products and solutions – lab automation and system virtualization;
–        Expertise in health and patient safety risk assessments for software applications used in the clinical laboratory.
–        Experience in virtual systems design and deployment – from customer requirements to the actual installation.
–        Experience in High Availability systems design and implementation. Administration expertise in at least one leading virtualization technologies i.e. VMware, Citrix.
–        Expertise in Network administration or design expertise.
