Senior Business Analyst / Project MAnager – LIMS

Role: Senior Business Analyst ideally with Project Management experience

This consultant will be working on a global assessment of our lab information needs as part of strategy initiative to understand the current and future business needs within quality and build a roadmap of technology needs and timelines.  The global assessment is being led by an industry leader in this space who bring the methodology and expert experience as well.

In addition to the strategic information gathering, the effort will include a more deep dive into Laboratory Information Management System requirements gathering, analysis, and solution selection this year to position ourselves for a global implementation starting late this year/early next year.

This consultant will work under the direction of the Director, Business Applications on these activities, and engage with both the business and SI as a key owner of typical BA accountabilities related to gathering and documenting requirements deliverables and providing input based on experience and understanding of those requirements for solution selection.

Beyond the solutions selection and more long term should this work out to be a good fit on a hire for both parties, this person will be the accountable business analyst for implementation of LIMS and the future roadmap activities as well as providing ongoing partnership and coordinating with the business users for system administration and support once solutions are in place.

In addition, as a Sr. BA within this team there are opportunities to lead smaller projects from a project management capacity such as niche applications for smaller user base, enhancement initiatives, or upgrades of existing systems.

A candidate with strong leadership and communication skills can also engage on projects in a role we call a Technical Lead within this team.  In this role, they are accountable for leading the overall IT workstream to coordinate not only the application related BA components with the business, but managing some vendor activities, interfaces, and coordinating activities owned by infrastructure and end user support project team members for server build and desktop needs.

Location:

  • Consulting engagement term, my preference is they will be in Lansing, MI, for the majority of the time.  However, they should expect to travel a bit over the first couple months to other sites in Maryland, Massachusetts, and Winnipeg, Canada so they must have a passport.
  • If the candidate is located closer to our Gaithersburg, MD, office making it a more appropriate base for travel purposes I am open to considering that instead.
  • For hire, my desire would be to target them located at one of our sites where we have heavier utilization on lab information systems which would be Lansing, MI; Baltimore, MD; or Canton, MA.  If Gaithersburg, MD, is more desired it will be considered as well.

Term:

  • Plan on an initial engagement of consulting for the first three months, with the option to convert to hire after that time.
  • However, it is possible that the contract engagement could be 6 to 9 months to take us through 2018 due to our processes for position fulfillment and budgeting.
