Senior Research Associate

Organovo is seeking a Senior Research Associate to join the Therapeutics team. The Senior Research Associate would develop and conduct experimental conditions and workplans, design and implement animal studies investigating implantation of therapeutic tissues, perform general lab work including cell culture, preparation of 3D bioink, bioprinting, and maintenance and analysis of printed constructs, and assist in the preparation and writing of technical reports, grants and manuscripts. 

Senior Research Associate Responsibilities: 

Rodent handling and in vivo pharmacology, including compound administration, serum collection, surgical procedures, primary cell isolations, and necropsy 
Basic bioprinter operation 
Generation and maintenance of three-dimensional (3D) tissue constructs 
Mammalian cell culture including initiation, propagation, and cryopreservation 
Performing laboratory procedures and assays including protein/nucleic acid preparation, ELISA, qRT-PCR, and FACS 
Basic data management and processing, communication of results, and record-keeping 
Experimental design and planning 
Analysis of bioprinted tissues and associated materials 
Frequent work at local CRO site 
Other duties as assigned

Requirements: 

Senior Research Associate Skills and Experience: 

BS with 5+ yrs, MS with 3+ yrs, Ph.D. with 1-3yrs of industry experience in drug/biologic R&D preferred 
BS/MS/Ph.D. in Biology, Physiology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Microbiology, or closely related field 
5+ years of animal handling experience 
Animal surgical experience required 
Demonstrated experience in mammalian cell culture, particularly with primary cell lines and stem cells 
Experience working in a clean room environment 
Proficient in laboratory procedures such as protein/nucleic acid preparation, ELISA, qRT-PCR, and FACS 
Capable of working independently and managing off-site activities 
Experience in drug/biologic R&D preferred 
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure 
Able to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary groups in a fast-paced work environment, and can also work well independently on established protocols / SOPs following training 
Detail and task oriented 
Positive attitude 
Keeps calm under pressure
