AACC Announces 42nd Annual Oak Ridge Conference

Washington, DC – March 15, 2010    The American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) announces its 42nd annual Oak Ridge Conference to be held April 22 – 23 at The Fairmont San José in San José, CA.

AACC’s Oak Ridge Conference is a highly regarded international conference attended by scientists from both academia and industry who are developing the diagnostic devices of the future.  The conference’s primary objective is to provide a forum for the evaluation of analytical techniques and instruments that will be commercialized and become routine in clinical laboratories within 3 to 5 years.  The conference program features four sessions: Diagnostic Technologies for Resource-Limited Settings; Novel Multiplex Platforms for Diagnostics; Emerging Detection Technologies for Diagnostics and Novel Separation and Sample Prep Technologies.

The keynote presentation, Nanotechnology at the Frontier of Individualized Medicine, will be made by Mauro Ferrari, PhD, Division of NanoMedicine, Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Texas Houston.  Dr. Ferrari is an internationally recognized expert in the development and application of biomedical nanotechnology who has received many national and international awards, including the Wallace H. Coulter Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in 1999.  From 2003 to 2005, he served as special expert on nanotechnology and eminent scholar at the National Institutes of Health, where he led in the development of National Cancer Institute’s program in nanotechnology, the largest program in nanomedicine in the world today.

Attendees have consistently rated the Oak Ridge Conference as the best look at new technology for clinical diagnostics and the conference will also be of interest to journalists who report on the technology.  For a complimentary registration, complete and submit a Press Registration Form.
