AACC ANNOUNCES LABORATORY AUTOMATION CONFERENCE IN KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA

Washington DC, July 1, 2009   The American Association for Clinical Chemistry announces the third in its series of Laboratory Automation conferences to be held in Asia.  This conference, being held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 22-23, will address Laboratory Automation: Integrating Quality with Efficiency.  The previous two conferences, which were held in Singapore, attracted more than 200 people from over 25 different countries.

The program for Kuala Lumpur covers issues vital to laboratory automation including identifying pre- and post-analytical medical errors and risks, designing an adaptive laboratory, and the advantages and disadvantages of an open system approach.  The conference features speakers from the US, Korea, Singapore, Saudi Arabia and Australia who head laboratories in their respective countries.  The program also provides access to leading automation vendors in one place.  Abbott Diagnostics, Beckman Coulter, Sysmex, Ortho Clinical Diagnostics, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, and Techno Medica will participate in Industry Workshops where each will address the full conference for 20 minutes.   The final session of the conference is a  panel discussion: Where are we going?  Providing both industry and laboratory perspectives, the discussion will look at the challenges ahead, desired advances and other visions of the future of laboratory automation.  Industry representatives and users of automation will be invited to attend.  A full conference program is available on the AACC website here.

The conference provides an important opportunity for journalists who write about laboratory automation to learn about the latest developments in the field, as well as hear from, and speak with, major vendors.  AACC is pleased to offer complimentary registrations to members of the press.  To register, complete and submit the Press Registration Form.

The conference is co-sponsored by the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC), the Asian & Pacific Federation of Clinical Biochemistry (APFCB), and the Malaysia Association of Clinical Biochemists (MACB) under the auspices of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC).  The program is supported by Beckman Coulter, Inc. and Sysmex Asia Pacific Pte Ltd Corporation.
