San Diego, CA, September 8 2003

Accelrys, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pharmacopeia, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCOP), today announced the release of its latest solutions for chemical and biological information management: Accord Enterprise Informatics and DS Accord for Excel Enterprise. Accord Enterprise Informatics 5.3 is an information management solution designed to enable the sharing and management of data among multi-disciplinary scientific functions in pharmaceutical or biotechnology organizations. New features include support for Linux and Oracle(R) 9i, significant performance enhancements, and support for a standard customization language: PL/SQL.

“These solutions help researchers deal with the critical problem of information overload and management, as well as helping to connect the different scientific disciplines involved in drug discovery,” said Dr. Scott Kahn, chief science officer, Accelrys.

DS Accord for Excel Enterprise 5.2 is a cheminformatics tool for managing, visualizing, and analyzing chemical information, and also acts as a PC-based client interface for Accord Enterprise Informatics 5.3. It combines the easy-to-use Microsoft Excel(R) interface with the power of the Accord Chemistry Engine to produce a versatile spreadsheet tool that understands chemistry and biology, calculates descriptors, and performs data analysis. The new chemical registration module complements existing data analysis and reporting functionality. DS Accord for Excel Enterprise 5.2 is one of a number of client applications that interact with Accord Enterprise Informatics, including Accord HTS 5.2 – a high-throughput plate and data management system – and Accord Inventory 2.2, which provides an efficient solution for managing reagents and compounds in a high-throughput environment.
