Accelrys Announces Agreement to Distribute Jubilant Biosys’ Kinase Inhibitor Database
San Diego, CA, December 22 2003
Accelrys, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pharmacopeia, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCOP), today announced a strategic agreement to become the exclusive distributor of Jubilant Biosys’ Kinase ChemBioBase – a kinase inhibitor database in the native Catalyst(R) 3-D file format. The database has over 160,000 compounds, covering about 320 unique kinase targets, including biological activity information for more than 60,000 compounds in the collection. Accelrys will make the entire database available as a module in its Catalyst 4.9 product suite, the company’s market-leading 3D rational drug design software for lead identification and optimization. Jubilant’s Kinase ChemBioBase inhibitor database is currently available for purchase in the 3D Catalyst format and will ship to customers by the end of December 2003. Accelrys also anticipates incremental updates to the database of approximately 25,000 compounds per year.
“Customers will now be able to readily build pharmacophore models of diverse kinase inhibitors using the Kinase ChemBioBase within Catalyst. Our hope is that this will help in the discovery process of a new class of specific kinase modulators,” said Dr V.N. Balaji, chief scientific officer of Jubilant Biosys.
