Accelrys Announces Chr. Hansen Deployment of iLabber ELN to 300 Users

SAN DIEGO, Dec 01, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Accelrys, a leading scientific enterprise R&D software and services company, is pleased to announce that Chr. Hansen has selected the on-premise iLabber electronic lab notebook (ELN) from Accelrys’ wholly-owned subsidiary Contur for global knowledge management across the enterprise. The iLabber notebook (previously the ConturELN) is a proven, cost-effective, server-based system that improves process documentation, information sharing and reuse, IP protection and overall productivity for leading biotechnology, chemical and food and beverage companies, as well as universities.

“We chose the iLabber system because it met our high quality requirements for a global deployment,” said Dr. Morten Meldgaard, project director of Chr. Hansen’s ELN project. “Of all the products we assessed, iLabber scored highest overall in simplicity and ease-of-use; out-of-the-box fit with current IT platforms; and low total cost-of-ownership with minimal training required.”

“Chr. Hansen’s selection of iLabber confirms the benefits of the notebook’s flexible, out-of-the-box capabilities and turnkey ease-of-deployment,” said Thomas Rozlucki, managing director of Contur, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Accelrys. “The global ELN roll-out at Chr. Hansen is a reflection of iLabber’s continuing rapid adoption and deployment in the food and beverage industry.”

Chr. Hansen is a leading supplier of natural colors and bacterial cultures for the food industry. With 2,300 employees and application centers in more than 20 countries, the company initiated an aggressive ELN rollout requiring full deployment within two years. A pilot study with 60 Chr. Hansen employees running iLabber began in March 2011 and the final decision for global deployment was made in August. The system is currently deployed to 300 users.

As part of the pilot study, Chr. Hansen has successfully integrated iLabber with several critical internal systems, including project portfolio and SAP systems, improving quality, consistency and transparency of documentation enterprise-wide.

iLabber is available as both an on-premise, server-based installation and a cloud-based Software-as-a-Service offering. Both systems are well-suited for R&D organizations requiring high-quality documentation and efficient sharing of experimental work along with rapid deployment and cost-effective operation.
