Accelrys Announces the Release of CombiMat 2.0

Accelrys, a wholly owned subsidiary of Pharmacopeia, Inc. (NASDAQ: PCOP), today announced the release of CombiMat 2.0, the data management solution for high throughput experimentation (HTE) in materials science. CombiMat 2.0 contains significant new functionality, as well as improved usability, enabling researchers to manage higher laboratory throughput with less effort.

Integrated design of synthesis operations and sample composition is now possible, offering a more effective material development process. Usability enhancements make it much easier to manage the complex set of activities involved in running an HTE lab. For example, a new Project Explorer and Multiple Document Interface allow scientists to organize their work and interact intuitively with complicated and varied project datasets. Experimental data can now be captured in a straightforward manner through better data import capabilities. Valuable knowledge can be extracted from existing data using redesigned search tools that make it easy to construct sophisticated queries. Datasets suitable for recipe-property modeling can now be generated, allowing powerful analysis and modeling capabilities to be applied to optimize the material design process.

“Leading-edge companies that perform high throughput experimentation for applications such as the discovery of new catalysts or the optimization of dielectrics face difficult challenges in optimizing their research processes. CombiMat helps researchers manage more projects in less time and with greater reliability,” said Dr. Scott Kahn, chief science officer, Accelrys. “CombiMat 2.0 extends Accelrys’ ongoing support for the complete discovery, development, manufacture and marketing process of innovative materials.”

CombiMat 2.0 is now integrated with the Materials Studio(TM) software environment. Materials Studio brings the world’s most advanced materials simulation and informatics technology to a desktop PC, and it dramatically enhances the ability to capture, store, analyze and communicate information relating to chemicals and materials.
