Aegis Analytical Corporation Announces the Release of Discoverant 3.0
According to the July 2004 issue of Pharmaceutical Technology, Dr. Janet Woodcock, deputy commissioner for operations for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), believes that “a great opportunity exists for improving manufacturing processes.” To better realize this opportunity and support the new risk-based approach developed by the FDA for pharma and biotech manufacturers, Aegis Analytical has released version 3.0 of its Discoverant GlobalVantage® software suite. The latest release includes customer-driven automated real-time data access and analytics and reporting enhancements that have further improved the overall performance and investigational capabilities of Discoverant, the software suite that Aegis provides to pharmaceutical, biotech and other process manufacturers to improve operational efficiency and quality compliance.
Discoverant 3.0 enhancements include real-time visualization, investigational analysis and reporting of process data, which allows for in-process monitoring to determine the root causes of process variation. New normality tests have also been incorporated that use the Lilliefors and Shapiro-Wilk statistical methods. The SPC control charting capabilities in Discoverant’s Quality Monitor have also been enhanced to allow for situations in which the control limits vary over time due to process changes. Each control chart segment is treated independently with respect to the control limits and application of customizable Western Electric rules.
The latest version of Discoverant also enables customers to interface directly to OSISoft PI via PI-SDK. Using PI’s API to connect to the PI historian database, users are now able to access larger amounts of their data much more quickly. Aegis has also included additional features to ensure that complex process genealogies are accurately handled while still providing for easy implementation of its patented data access hierarchy.
