Agriculture Laboratory Consortium Welcomes New York and North Carolina State Labs to the LABWORKS Community

PerkinElmer was awarded contracts for implementation of its LABWORKS LIMS at both the State of New York Department of Agriculture and the Food and Drug Protection Division of the State of North Carolina Department of Agriculture during the month of December. They are important additions to PerkinElmer’s rapidly growing family of state and federal government agriculture installations.

The Food and Drug Protection Division of the State of North Carolina Department of Agriculture assures consumers that foods, feeds, drugs, cosmetics, and automotive antifreezes are safe, wholesome and properly labeled. Statewide inspections and chemical analyses offer protection against unsafe, deceptive and fraudulent products. The Division under Laboratory Director Roger McDaniel, includes a Feed Laboratory, a Fertilizer Laboratory, a Food Safety Laboratory, a Microbiology Laboratory, a Pesticide Formulation Laboratory, and a Pesticide Residue Laboratory. There are 60 field inspectors who cover the State of North Carolina.

The State of New York Department of Agriculture Laboratory includes Feed Laboratory, a Fertilizer Laboratory, Pesticide and Pesticide Residue Laboratories. In addition, it has one of the largest Dairy and Dairy Products operations, providing an array of microbiological and analytical tests.

“I am very pleased to welcome New York and North Carolina to our growing consortium of state and federal agriculture laboratories” said Robert Hudson, Global Director for Enterprise Software Solutions at PerkinElmer. “The focus on safety in our food supply chain, and the need for assurance of truth in labeling throughout the agricultural process is growing at a remarkable pace. The opportunity to partner with two of the most significant state agricultural entities in the U.S. allows us to apply our team’s knowledge and experience to deliver to their needs. At the same time, the diversity of services that these labs provide will enable us to continue to improve upon our breadth of knowledge. In turn, we will be better positioned to serve the evolving needs of all of our agricultural stakeholders over the long term.”

Mr. Hudson also announced plans for the next user forum for the LABWORKS Agricultural Consortium. It is being planned for April. Details will be completed in mid-January. For more information, please visit www.perkinelmer.com/labworks, or call 1.800.762.4060.
