Analytical Spectral Devices’ Portable LabSpec® Pro Selected by National Archives (Washington D.C.) for Identification of Preservation Materials

Analytical Spectral Devices (ASD), manufacturer of rapid, precision analytical and quality control instruments reports it’s award-winning LabSpec® Pro has been selected by the National Archives (Washington D.C.) for use in analysis and identification of archival materials. The portable LabSpec® Pro is being used at document locations to determine types and quality of various glues, resins, and plastic laminates used in the preservation of old documents.

Portability was a key requirement of the National Archives since transportation of documents to traditional laboratories is not feasible. The LabSpec® Pro is also used to determine the percent of bonded moisture in documents.

Founded in 1990, Analytical Spectral Devices manufactures cost-effective, precision, transportable and field-portable, laboratory-quality Vis/NIR spectrometers, spectroradiometers, spectrophotometers, and corresponding software and accessories. ASD’s instruments perform well in a range of environmental conditions, in and outside the laboratory, and have applications in pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, analytical chemistry, mining, grain, food and dairy, remote sensing, and pulp and paper industries world-wide.
