Aquilent Wins Contract for NIH National Library of Medicine Software Support Services; Aquilent Wins Contract Recompete for $25M and 5 Years to Provide Software Support Services

LAUREL, Md.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sept. 18, 2006–Aquilent, Inc. announced today the award of a $25M, 5-year contract to provide software support services to the NIH National Library of Medicine (NLM) Lister Hill National Center for Biomedical Communications (LHNCBC). The contract is the logical follow-on to work at NLM that Aquilent has been doing for the last 15 years.

We will continue our support in areas including: Unified Medical Language System (UMLS), Medical Article Record System (MARS), Semantic Knowledge Representation, NLM Gateway and Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR), as well as many other projects critical to the success of the NLM.

The Lister Hill Center is a research and development division of the NLM which seeks to improve access to high quality biomedical information for individuals around the world. It conducts and supports research and development in the dissemination of high quality imagery, medical language processing, high-speed access to biomedical information, intelligent database systems development, multimedia visualization, knowledge management, data mining and machine-assisted indexing.
