Argonaut Technologies Integrates Statistical Design of Experiments with Automated Parallel Chemistry
Argonaut Technologies, a leading provider of chemistry instruments and consumables to help the pharmaceutical industry accelerate drug development, announced the integration of Statistical Design of Experiments (DoE) with its Advantage Series(R) 3400 Process Chemistry Workstation.
The 3400 Process Chemistry Workstation is a proven solution for process chemists modeling the temperature performance of a full-scale reactor and capturing and documenting results while working at bench-scale. Argonaut has integrated FusionSynthesis(TM), a statistical software package developed by S-Matrix Corporation, with the Advantage Series 3400 Workstation, to further aid chemists in the planning and analysis of multiple experiments.
Process development chemists face the challenge of studying the effects of multiple variables in a small number of experiments in order to find the optimal reaction conditions. Argonaut Technologies integrated FusionSynthesis, a simple statistical design of experiment software, into their Advantage Series 3400 software to provide the following added features that streamline process development:
- Simplifies complex experimentation and analysis
- Combining automated parallel chemistry and DoE into one system, the Advantage Series 3400, ensures that process chemists can optimize reactions through simultaneous analysis of the individual and interactive effects of many variables easily, without reliance on statisticians. Also, chemists can expect higher quality data analysis from the same number of experiments than the traditional method of varying one variable at a time.
- Integrates DoE software seamlessly
- Unlike other automated instruments, the 3400 Process Chemistry Workstation provides integrated and seamless access to DoE to automatically generate the recipes needed to execute an experimental design. Chemists save recipe-programming time by not having to transfer a design from a separate computer to the automated synthesizer, eliminating the chance for human error.
- Uses widely accepted DoE software
- The Advantage Series 3400 DoE software, FusionSynthesis, is based on S-Matrix’s Fusion Pro(TM) software program, the only DoE software package validated by a major pharmaceutical company. Leveraging proven DoE software, designed specifically for chemists, ensures success for users of this application in process research. The use of automated parallel synthesis with statistical design of experiments is emerging as a powerful combination for the optimization of chemical processes, said Gordon Tredger, a senior vice president at Argonaut Technologies. “This release builds on our success in providing high quality data while simplifying the workflow of chemists in pharmaceutical process development.”
Argonaut Technologies 3400 Process Chemistry Workstation is a proven solution for chemists engaged in pharmaceutical process development in Europe, the United States and Japan. S-Matrix is a leading-edge developer of advanced Design of Experiments. S-Matrix works with international Pharmaceutical companies and partners such as Argonaut Technologies on strategic software development initiatives that provide advanced DoE techniques for targeted industry applications.
